Background Introduction

Railway level crossings without on-site guards are numerous, often located in rural or remote areas, and lack dedicated personnel to oversee them.

Vehicles and pedestrians often overlook safety warnings, increasing the risk of jaywalking and running red lights, which can force trains to stop or even lead to collisions. Relying solely on warning signs and rudimentary barriers is insufficient to provide effective protection.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop a highly automated and intelligent unmanned level-crossing management system that provides automatic early warning upon train approach, automatic barrier closure, and remote monitoring, thereby ensuring the safety of both rail and road traffic.

Solution Overview

This solution is a system designed for unmanned level crossings. Fully Automatic Safety Protection System

The system obtains real-time train location information via track sensors or a Beidou/4G train-approach detection unit.

When the train approaches, the system Auto-trigger The level crossing audio‑visual alarm and LED display (showing “Train Approaching – Do Not Pass”) activate, while simultaneously controlling the automatic barrier (or automatic rising bollard) to close the crossing.

Meanwhile, high-definition cameras capture instances of trespassing and unauthorized crossing, and transmit the footage to the management center via 4G or the railway’s dedicated network.

Once the train has completely passed, the system automatically clears the alarm and lowers the barrier.

The entire process requires no manual intervention, achieving… “Unattended, Intelligent Control”

The system also supports remote real-time monitoring of level crossing status, manual intervention, and self-diagnosis of faults.
