Railway Freight Efficiency Analysis System Proposal
Background Introduction
Railway freight transport is an essential component of the national economy, and improving freight efficiency is of great significance for reducing logistics costs and enhancing the competitiveness of the railway sector.
Traditional freight management relies on manual record-keeping and periodic reporting, making it difficult to monitor key metrics in real time, such as the status of vehicles en route, loading and unloading efficiency, and dwell times at marshalling yards. Fragmented data and delayed analysis hinder refined scheduling and the optimization of transport capacity.
Therefore, it is necessary to develop an IoT- and big data–based railway freight efficiency analysis system that enables end-to-end digital monitoring and intelligent analytics, thereby providing decision support for optimizing transport operations.
Solution Overview
This solution deploys perception-layer devices such as vehicle positioning terminals (Beidou/GPS), track sensors, automatic axle-counting equipment (AEI), video surveillance systems, and intelligent access control systems. Real-time collection Data including truck location, speed, train composition information, loading/unloading point occupancy duration, and station entry/exit records.
Data is aggregated to the freight big data platform via a dedicated railway network or 4G, where a big data analytics engine automatically generates key performance indicators such as train punctuality, average section speed, dwell time at intermediate stations, loading and unloading efficiency, and vehicle turnover rate.
The system supports custom reports, visual dashboards, and anomaly alerts—such as prolonged dwell times or deviations from the schedule—helping dispatchers identify bottleneck stages and optimize train‑formation plans and freight‑marketing strategies.

Platform Display
The automated slope‑monitoring system platform along railway lines is a critical technological solution for ensuring railway safety. By installing various sensing devices—such as displacement sensors and tilt sensors—on the slopes, it continuously tracks deformation, movement, and inclination in real time. Leveraging advanced data‑processing and analytical algorithms, the system can swiftly and accurately identify potential geological hazard risks and issue timely alerts. The platform also features a remote monitoring and management center, enabling operations and maintenance personnel to access slope‑monitoring data in real time and implement appropriate response measures based on data analysis. With its automation, intelligence, and robust real‑time capabilities, this system helps safeguard railway operations and mitigate latent disaster risks.
