Liuzhou Sanjiang GN Tun Emergency Monitoring Project

Background Introduction
GN Village in Sanjiang County, Liuzhou, is situated at the confluence of the Liu River and the Sanjiang River, with its banks adjacent to the waterway and a relatively low elevation. The surrounding terrain is generally flat, dominated by farmland and open river valleys. Summer rainfall is abundant and often accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy precipitation. Given its location at the river confluence, significant rainfall or rising water levels in upstream rivers such as the Yangtze River can trigger flooding, which may inundate low-lying areas, farmland, and villages, thereby severely impacting local residents. Moreover, the relatively flat topography means that prolonged hydrological processes can lead to the formation of flood-retention zones or waterlogged areas in certain regions; under specific conditions, excessive rainfall may also trigger geological hazards such as landslides and debris flows.

In 2020, Guilin Spepc Technology undertook the installation project of emergency monitoring equipment in GNTun, Sanjiang County, Liuzhou. By installing debris flow alarms, inclinometers, and alarm devices, the project monitors hydrological indicators, rainfall, displacement, and other data in real time. When conditions that may lead to debris flows or landslides are detected, alarm signals are issued to provide early warnings to nearby residents and relevant departments, thereby maximizing the safety of local residents and their property.
Success Alert
At 8:11 a.m. on September 11, 2020, a debris flow disaster occurred in GN Village, Sanjiang County, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province due to continuous heavy rainfall. The monitoring equipment independently developed by Spepc Technology continuously issued audible and visual alarms before the disaster, prompting villagers to evacuate urgently and successfully avoiding the raging debris flow, with no casualties.
This successful early-warning case was featured in special reports on CCTV News Channel 13 and CCTV-4, the Chinese International Channel!
