Rail Vehicle Safety Monitoring Project

 Guilin SPEPC Electronics

Background Introduction
With population growth and economic development, the demand for greater capacity and efficiency in public transportation systems is steadily increasing, making railway dispatching a massive and complex undertaking.

By deploying vehicle-mounted motion sensors and an RTK-based vehicle positioning system, it is possible to monitor train location and speed in real time and accurately predict arrival times. This capability helps railway operators optimize train scheduling and operational plans, thereby enhancing the efficiency of rail transport and improving capacity utilization. Moreover, timely monitoring and analysis of data such as train position, speed, and acceleration enable precise tracking of train operations, prompt identification of potential safety risks, and the implementation of necessary measures to prevent accidents, ultimately improving railway safety.

From 2021 to 2023, Guilin Spepc Technology installed several sets of vehicle motion sensors at a certain station to monitor the number of vehicles entering and exiting in real time, determine the vehicle clearance status, and enhance station dispatching safety; it also installed several sets of locomotive positioning systems to monitor the dynamic location of locomotives with centimeter-level accuracy, thereby helping the depot achieve more efficient locomotive dispatching and safer operations.
