The Nanchang Railway Bureau’s jurisdiction encompasses Jiangxi and Fujian provinces, as well as parts of neighboring regions. The area boasts a dense railway network, with numerous bridges, culverts, and overpasses crossing beneath the tracks. As local economies develop and road freight volumes increase, collisions between over-height vehicles and height‑restriction barriers at these structures have become increasingly frequent, posing a serious threat to both the structural integrity of railway bridges and road traffic safety. According to recent statistics, dozens of key lines—including the Beijing–Kowloon Railway—face such collision risks, underscoring the urgent need for an automated, intelligent collision‑monitoring and alarm system. During the 2026 Spring Festival travel season, reports highlighted that the railway height‑restriction barrier collision‑monitoring and alarm system functions like an “intelligent assistant,” leveraging LiDAR and AI‑powered video surveillance to provide round‑the‑clock smart monitoring.
Solutions and Deployment
Since 2023, the Nanchang Railway Bureau has progressively launched projects to install and upgrade height‑restriction frame collision‑monitoring and alarm systems across all its track maintenance sections, with deployment primarily covering the following lines:

Beijing–Kowloon Railway (Ganzhou Track Maintenance Section) : In November 2023, a tender notice was issued to install collision‑prevention monitoring and alarm systems on 20 height‑restriction gantries—18 along the Beijing–Kowloon Railway and one each along the Ganlong and Jiheng Railways. The project’s maximum total bid ceiling is tentatively set at RMB 1,248,269.

Qujiu Line (Jiujiang Bridge Maintenance Section) In 2023, the Jiujiang Bridge Engineering Section installed collision‑monitoring and alarm systems on six locations, including K215+252 on the Quzhou–Jiujiang Railway.

From 2023 to 2024, the project also included ancillary installation and labor‑coordination services, such as concrete pouring for monitoring‑equipment pole foundations, assembly and installation of solar‑charging modules, and the mounting of sensor devices and solar‑powered charging systems. This height‑restriction gantry collision‑monitoring and alarm system has been deployed in nearly 600 sets across multiple railway entities, including the Nanchang Railway Bureau, successfully providing early warnings and supporting accident‑investigation evidence collection. The system boasts leading advantages, including an exceptionally long warning range and an alarm accuracy rate of no less than 96.28%.
Implementation Effectiveness
The system has successfully issued multiple early warnings of collision incidents and has provided critical video and image evidence to support accident investigation and liability determination by the relevant authorities.
In October 2023, both the K1850+689 location on the Beijing–Kowloon Railway and the Xiangtang West point successfully triggered over-height warnings. The drivers of over-height freight vehicles promptly reversed and changed lanes, thereby preventing collision accidents.


In March 2024, at kilometer marker K546+252 on the Shanghai–Kunming Expressway, over-height trucks were detected colliding with height‑limiting gantries in both northbound and southbound directions. The system immediately triggered an alarm, captured license‑plate images and live footage, and transmitted them to the railway engineering section, providing robust evidence for determining liability in the incident.

By implementing a comprehensive closed-loop management system that integrates pre‑event early warning, in‑process alerts, and post‑event traceability, the system has effectively reduced the incidence of collisions with height‑restriction gantries, thereby ensuring the safety of railway bridges and road traffic.
