Jiangxi Shidai Mining Lithium Mine Stope Deformation Monitoring Project

Project Background

Jiangxi Shidai Mining is a wholly owned subsidiary of CATL. Its lithium‑bearing petalite mine features steep slopes and frequent blasting, with vibrations significantly impacting slope stability. Conventional monitoring methods struggle to provide continuous, high‑precision deformation measurements at multiple locations, posing a risk of landslides. The project team therefore needs to deploy advanced visual‑based monitoring technology to conduct multi‑point deformation surveillance across the mining area, thereby mitigating landslide risks and ensuring safe production.

Monitoring equipment

The project employs the SPEPC high-precision visual deformation monitoring instrument (SP-VDM series), innovatively utilizing multi-target scanning technology. A single device can simultaneously track 10 targets, enabling continuous deformation monitoring at multiple locations along the mining face slope. The equipment boasts sub-millimeter measurement accuracy and, powered by solar energy with 4G wireless data transmission, is well-suited for mines without electricity and outdoor environments. Monitoring data is uploaded to a cloud platform, facilitating automated data collection, analysis, and intelligent early warning.

Implementation Effectiveness

Following system deployment, automated, non-contact deformation monitoring has been implemented at multiple locations along the mine’s slope. The cloud platform enables real-time visualization of displacement trends for each target; when monitored data exceed preset thresholds, it automatically triggers alerts, providing mine management with timely risk warnings, effectively preventing collapse incidents and supporting mine safety and operational stability.
