Guandong Highway Development Center Highway Corridor Monitoring Project
Project Background
The Guandong Highway Development Center oversees road sections that traverse mountainous areas, with numerous high slopes and potential geological hazard sites. During the flood season, heavy rainfall can easily trigger slope landslides and collapses, posing a serious threat to road traffic safety. Traditional manual inspection methods struggle to provide continuous, quantitative monitoring of slope deformation trends, making it imperative to deploy automated monitoring equipment to enhance risk prevention and control capabilities. Guilin Spepc Technology, leveraging… Integrated Intelligent Sensing Technology and Low-Power Wireless Monitoring Solution , undertook the deployment of monitoring equipment at key hazard-prone locations along this road section.
Monitoring equipment
Based on the slope’s geological conditions and monitoring requirements, Spepc Technology deployed the following equipment:
-
GNSS receiver : Two sets, deployed at key surface displacement monitoring points along the slope, utilize a dual‑system high‑precision positioning approach combining BeiDou and GPS to acquire real-time horizontal and vertical displacement data (static accuracy: horizontal ±2.5 mm + 0.5 ppm, elevation ±5 mm + 0.5 ppm), enabling assessment of the overall slope stability.
-
Integrated Tilt Monitor : Two sets, installed at the mid‑slope and summit, continuously monitor tilt angles along the X, Y, and Z axes as well as vibration acceleration (accuracy ±0.05°, resolution 0.001°), capturing local slope‑deformation trends.
All equipment adopts Solar-powered + 4G wireless transmission , requiring no external power supply or wiring, and suitable for outdoor environments without electricity.
Real-time access to monitoring data Monitoring Cloud Platform The platform supports custom threshold-based alerts, historical data trend analysis, and trend visualization, providing highway maintenance agencies with a scientific basis for decision-making.

Implementation Effectiveness
After the system was commissioned, it enabled continuous, automated monitoring of surface displacement and tilt changes on high slopes. Monitoring data are reliably transmitted back to the platform, which can display displacement–time curves and tilt‑change trends in real time. When monitored values exceed preset thresholds, the system automatically sends early‑warning notifications to management personnel, helping to promptly detect slope anomalies. This project addresses the spatiotemporal gaps inherent in manual inspections, enhances the Guidong Highway Development Center’s capacity for dynamic hazard detection, and provides robust data support for ensuring safe highway operations during the flood season and for informed maintenance decision‑making.
