Guangzhou–Guangxi Passenger Railway, Guihua Village Double-Track Supermajor Bridge – Bridge Bearing Displacement Monitoring Project

Project Background

The Guiyang–Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line is a major high-speed railway artery connecting Southwest China with South China, and the Guihuacun Double-Track Super Bridge is one of the key control projects along the entire line. The dynamic loads generated by long-term operation of high-speed trains, temperature variations, and uneven foundation settlement may cause cumulative displacements in bridge bearings. When bearing displacements exceed allowable limits, they can affect the stress state of the girder and even jeopardize train safety. Traditional manual measurement methods are low-frequency and limited in accuracy, making it difficult to capture the continuous evolution of displacements as well as sudden anomalies. Starting in 2018, the maintenance unit of the Guiyang–Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line launched an automated monitoring project for bridge bearing displacements, and Guilin Spepc Technology, leveraging… Integrated Intelligent Sensing Technology and Railway Monitoring Experience , undertook the deployment of the bridge’s critical bearing monitoring equipment in two phases.

Monitoring equipment

The project will be implemented in two phases, with a total of installations… SPEPC bridge bearing monitor A total of 5 sets:

  • Phase One (September 2018) : Install three sets, deployed at the key bearing locations of the main bridge.

  • Phase II (November 2020) : Install two additional sets to cover the remaining critical bearings.

The bridge bearing monitor integrates a high-precision displacement sensor to acquire real-time longitudinal and transverse displacement data with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. The device features low power consumption and a high protection rating (IP68), making it well-suited for harsh outdoor conditions such as bridge vibrations and significant temperature fluctuations. Monitoring data is transmitted in real time via a 4G wireless network to… SPEPC Railway Structure Monitoring Cloud Platform The platform supports plotting displacement–time curves, multi-level threshold-based alarms, and historical data retrieval. When displacement exceeds the limit or the rate of change is abnormal, it automatically sends alert notifications to railway maintenance personnel.

Implementation Effectiveness

After the system was put into operation, it achieved 7×24-hour continuous, automated monitoring of key bearing displacements on the Guihua Village Double-Track Supermajor Bridge. Management personnel can remotely access the platform at any time to view the trend and historical data of each bearing’s displacement, promptly detect anomalies, and arrange on-site verification. The equipment has operated stably over two phases, providing reliable data support for assessing the condition of bridge bearings on the Guiyang–Guangzhou Passenger Railway, formulating maintenance plans, and ensuring safe operations. This project represents a typical application of Guilin SPEPC in the field of high-speed railway bridge structural monitoring, validating the long-term stability and data accuracy of bearing displacement monitoring equipment.
