Guizhou Wenjiaba Mining Co., Ltd. Slope Safety Monitoring Project


 

Project Background

Guizhou Wenjiaba Mining Co., Ltd. is located in Zhijin County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. The mining area features complex geological conditions, and coal-mining activities may trigger geological hazards such as slope landslides and collapses. Traditional manual inspections struggle to provide continuous, precise monitoring of subtle slope deformations and crack development, posing safety risks. To enhance the mine’s automated geological hazard monitoring capabilities, Wenjiaba Mining initiated the construction of a slope-monitoring system in 2023, with Guilin Spepc Technology leveraging… Integrated Intelligent Sensing Technology and Low-Power Wireless Monitoring Solution Undertook the equipment supply and installation work for this project.

SPEPC Solutions and Equipment

Based on the geological conditions of the mine slope and the monitoring requirements, Spepc Technology deployed the following equipment:

Integrated Tilt Monitoring Instrument (Inclinometer) : Five sets of instruments are deployed in key deformation zones of the slope—namely, the slope crest, bench areas, and potential slip surfaces—to continuously acquire tilt angles and vibration acceleration data along the X, Y, and Z axes (with an accuracy of ±0.05° and a resolution of 0.001°), thereby monitoring the trend of slope‑body tilting and deformation.

Integrated Crack Meter : Three sets, installed at existing cracks and weak zones along the slope, provide real-time monitoring of crack‑width variations (measurement range 0–2000 mm, accuracy 0.02% FS), helping to assess the tensile state of the slope.

Integrated Collapse Meter : Three sets, deployed in areas prone to frequent rockfalls and collapses, feature a highly sensitive triggering mechanism capable of detecting minute displacements and vibrations of hazardous rock masses, enabling real-time detection of collapse hazards.

Integrated rain gauge : One set, installed in the mine’s catchment area, provides real-time monitoring of rainfall intensity and cumulative rainfall (with a resolution of 0.1 mm), enabling analysis of the rainfall-induced impacts on slope stability.

All equipment adopts Solar-powered with a built-in battery and 4G wireless transmission , with an IP68 protection rating, it is designed to withstand the harsh outdoor conditions of mining sites. Monitoring data is accessed in real time. SPEPC Geological Disaster Monitoring and Early Warning Cloud Platform The platform supports multi-level threshold alarms, historical data trend analysis, and report export. Management personnel can remotely access data from each monitoring point via computer or mobile device.

Implementation Effectiveness

After the system was commissioned, it enabled round-the-clock automated monitoring of mine slope inclination, cracks, collapses, and rainfall. Management personnel can use the platform to view real-time data and trend changes at each monitoring point; when measured values exceed preset thresholds, the system automatically issues alert notifications. This project has provided Wenjiaba Mining with objective, continuous slope‑deformation data, helping safety managers promptly track slope conditions and offering technical support for geological hazard prevention and safe mine operations.
