Crack Monitoring Project for the Canteen and Dormitory Building at LS Middle School in Guilin

Crack Monitoring Project for the Cafeteria and Dormitory Building at LS Middle School in Guilin

Background Introduction
Guilin LS Middle School was founded in 1942. Since 2010, the school has implemented a fully enclosed management system. Students residing in the county seat and those from rural areas are required to live on campus, which facilitates their daily life and studies. In addition to the newly constructed student dormitory buildings, the cafeteria and the older dormitory structures, having been in use for many years, now exhibit cracks in their walls and floors, posing a potential risk of collapse and jeopardizing the safety of students and faculty members.

In 2019, Guilin Spepc Technology undertook the dynamic crack monitoring project for LS Middle School. By installing inclinometers and crack meters for automated monitoring, the project achieved real-time monitoring of the dynamic changes in disaster development, providing decision-making basis for managers to take timely measures for repair or renovation, thereby preventing accidents that could endanger the safety of students and faculty.
